Shattuckite is a copper silicate hydroxide mineral with a hardness of 3.5. Its crystal system is orthorhombic. It is found in copper mines and is closely associated with azurite, ajoite, turquoise, chrysocolla, and malachite. It was first discovered in the Shattuck mine in Bisbee, Arizona where the name was derived. It is a secondary mineral, but is not formed directly from copper, but forms from other secondary minerals. Shattuckite has been known to pseudomorph after both malachite and cuprite.
Metaphysically, Shattuckite stimulates the throat chakra and is said to enhance one's communication skills. Hence, it is a good stone for public speakers, teachers, ministers, etc. It is a Stone of Truth and recommended for lawyers and politicians :)
It is also a stone of the third eye and the psychic centers. It helps one to recognize where judgemental thoughts or words have fed the ego and starved the Spirit and teaches self-responsibility as the first path to spiritual awareness.
The lighter blues focus on the throat chakra and communication while the darker blues focus on the third eye and intuition.
Shattuckite resonates well with Turquoise, Chrysocolla, Larimar, Ajoite, Phenacite, Lapis Lazuli and Natrolite.

Extra small pieces weigh less than two grams and measure 3/8 to 1/2". Small pieces range from 2 to 4 grams and measure 3/8 to 3/4". Medium stones range from 4 to 8 grams and measure 1/2 to 1" and Large stones range from 8 to 15 grams and measure 3/4 to 1 1/4".
